The Red Typewriter
With rain and sweat, i turned the corner of the street and saw an ambulance outside our own front door. It seems a bit too rhymy, doesn't it, for such a shocking incident as seeing an ambulance outside the front door? And i think it it is too rhymy for a reason. I think this is a case of the speaker using rhyme and regular metre. That's a very la tededreddededredrededei it's there, i think because it's a kind of hiding place at a time of great distress. You see the ambulance, and suddenly everything changes. The poet retreats into poetry, into rhyme, perhaps the most classic poetic form
