In the early 2000s, Richard Branson had funded an explorer named Steve Fawcett who wanted to make like an airplane shaped carbon fiber submarine. He never got to build it because he was involved in a mysterious plane crash that became the most expensive rescue effort in modern history. No one's killed a sub full of people in decades. James Cameron started reaching out and being like, Hey, I don't know about this feels like it. It might be not the best idea ever but rush ignores them.
