Intergroup Conflict Is a Game Changer
In social sciences we're often studying groups in conflict as the ones that are interesting. We don't forget about the mundane groups and the mundane identities that we all have that don't rely on conflict with other groups. The current political situation really makes it hard for me to defend the idea that groups don't have to hate each other but it also shows how profound and effect there is when you do start creating oppositional identities which can be positive or negative.
