Mulatto, Quadruun: A Performance of the Impossibility

Mulatto, Quadruun is a poem about racial liminality and how language communicates or fails to communicate the positions. It was important to have this poem at the beginning of the book grant because it establishes theracial liminality that's so important to understanding the speaker's circumstances. Some are seemingly innocuous but some are very clearly rooted in hate and fear. And part of what I think is happening with poetry is vis-a-vis when we're reading a lyric poem and a lyric poem drops us out of it. The mystery for me is inside that experience of encountering the enoughable inside a poem.
