Gunshot Remains Tests Are Not Reliable

The presence of gunshot residue doesn't necessarily indicate that the person discharged the gun. The most effective test must be conducted within four to six hours of the shooting. Even if John Rivera had gone forward with a gunshot residue test and it showed there was residue, it could have easily been explained away.
