The History of the US Army Airborne School

The 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment was under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Robert Sink. The regiment would be split into nine companies each comprising of several dozen troops. E Company has been immortalised in modern media thanks to a book written by the American historian Stephen E. Ambrose in 1992 called Band of Brothers. Tom Hanks and Stephen Spielberg used the book as the basis for a 2001 miniseries of the same name.
