In high rung politics, people can disagree. But in low rung politics it's very simple, people who agree with you will always jump over to the orange circle. Free speech is a perfect lipnus test - as soon as it's free speech you don't like, all those principles disappear. The big goal is not trying to create more perfect union and ther ther are two giants and screaming giants at each other. If the high rung kind of emergent property is intelligence and in some ways progress, the low rung type is just strength and power against evil.
