If someone walks into your office and no one who looks like that person has ever held that job, you say, excuse me, just a minute. Don't look for defense of this first. Take your own emotions out of the conversation. And if somebody's telling you something, accept that their lived experience is different from yours and therefore they have a valuable contribution.
