Turtle Shells

The shell of a turtle is made up of lots of different pieces that are sort of fused together, joined. As they grow, the outside edge of the scoot comes off and we see the nice new clean scoot underneath. Being a turtle it's living inside its rib cage. The internal organs are all nicely protected by what is essentially an extended rib cage that he can hide within.
