Is Spinoza a Materialist?

Spinoza's philosophy is about freedom, how to liberate ourselves as individuals. So i can see how that fits in with his broader philosophy of controlling the passions and acting according to reason. Does he say anything distinctively different from the epicureans about death? I hesitate to say that there is a great radical difference. Except for the epicureans. We are material strictly, and material beings. At least most of the epicureans were materialists,. lucretius, for example.
