The Human Side of Government

The human side of government is particularly appealing. We often talk about making faceless bureaucrats into the heroes they often should be. Itrelly very struck by how little modern science has changed. The basic ideas about what human nature is and what obstacles are put in front of any attempt to achieve good government, those basic ideas really go back to the greeks. If men were angels, no government would be necessary. In democratic institutions, we not only have to solve these problems, but to do so while respecting the will of the people with all their biases and noise. That system can identify nudges and work arounds and best practices for decision hygiene that allow that ultimate reflection of human nature
