The Lord's Cup, the Holy Grail, and Its Magical Powers
The idea that his story is patterned on dona uraca's chalice or the lord's cup in that sense, is weak. There is no reference in wolfram's version of the story to the last supper or to a chalice of any sort. The earliest claims of that source come from moslems. And i would say that the notion that we have to day of the holy grail as a vessel out of which one drinks, and it confers healing and immortality, that that seems very close and related to older ries of the fountain of youth, the waters of life.
