The Origins of Vedic India
The original theory behind the collapse of the Indus Valley was that Indo-Aryan invaders moved into Pakistan and India around 2000 BC. This theory has largely been discredited, and instead the origins of what would become Vedic India began less dramatically. The former nomads had developed a more agrarian civilization, gradually moving into northern and central India settling along the Ganges River. But at this time, political organization remained relatively small scale, and Vedic society was centered on tribal affiliations.
