Gregory's Oration on Leprosy

Many of Gregory's surviving writings are orations that were delivered to his Christian community. In one of the most moving, he implores his listeners to care for the poor and in particular for victims of leprosy. He does not only appeal to our emotions, he also calls on the assistance of philosophy. The condition of the lepers teaches us that things of the body are subject to destruction and suffering.
