The Medication First Approach to Opioid Use Disorder
The state implemented what we call the medication first approach to opioid use disorder treatment. The idea being, let's prioritize rapid and permanent access to a life saving resource. For OD that's the medications that are most likely to reduce overdose which are people morphine and methadone. And then community arm reduction, we give out a shit ton of naloxone,. We have a huge team who packs it up, ships it out, drops it off, trains on it.
