Effective Altruism and the Charity Sector

I struggle to see how effective altruism can avoid at least some of the problems in the charity sector. I think alongside that money, which is intertwined with demographics, is key. For the vast majority of people, though, we actually give more money in taxes than we do in charity. So I wondered if you have any thoughts about the interactions between public spending and effective altruism.
