The Congenital Defect of All Philosophers
The way that we divide up the phenomena in the world and the way that we classify things is important to Nietzsche. It's a fiction that our consciousness authors in order to make sense of the world and navigate it, he says. We just group things together and say, there's five people there. Five people are not equal, right? They're all completely different. That's purely something on the level of the abstract that doesn't exist in real life, right? And then what else does he bring up here? He says, without accepting the fictions of logic, without measuring reality against the purely invented world of the unconditional and self identical, man could not live.
