The Politics of Precarity
The precarity discourse, at least in the US, didn't really come into wider usage until after 9-11. I think globally it's understood as sort of the condition of the labor class and increasing economic insecurity that was prevalent in Europe. But when it arrived into the common discourse in the U.S., it was more about the precariousness of our security. And so we're very comfortably live in kind of this US security state.
