i think to understand what the united states is, we have to understand it as a country that has only ever been an empire. An expansionis capitalist project, an empire state from its inception that drawn people in by consent and by coercion. The idea that we must be ceaselessly involved in all parts of the world and policing enemies that that are besieging us everywhere potentially comes from that long buried lair of the sort of settler colonial inheritance.
