The Relationship Between Muscle Mass and Cognitive Function

The amount of muscle that they had was strongly related to their cognitive function. Instrumental activities of daily living are things like being able to balance your cheque book or cook or drive a car. That was associated with how much muscle they have. Even after you control for age and physically active they are in chronic diseases, it was muscle mass that was so closely related to these cognitive outcomes. And there may be some really important metabolic and physiological reasons for that.
