The government relies on secrecy and lying to function. It needs to lie to the public to stay credible in some situations. Unfortunately, lying is a feature of the government and not a bug. There's somewhere in the middle like a moderate amount of lying is the sweet spot. Could business survive with just total honesty? No. What about marriage? Yeah. Having children would just stop. Not a chance.
