The Importance of Economic Governance in American Politics

The US is really distinct from other liberal market economies or so-called liberal market economies. It's the UK and the US are just very different cases. The US has a highly decentralized federal system closer to Canada than the UK, but even compared with Canada, the US has a much less robust system of intergovernmental revenue sharing. And I think all these are things where the US is both distinctive and offers some insight for understanding developments in other countries.
