El Nino and La Nina refer to shifts in the winds and ocean temperatures across the Pacific Ocean. They have a really strong relationship with climate change. And so as we swing into this al-Nino, what's happening is the heat is being redistributed from the ocean to the atmosphere,. That's why we're seeing all these surface temperature records plummet. There is also talk about shifts in what we call aerosol. So these are tiny particles that can reflect sunlight, things like dust, things like sulfur dioxide.
