Is the Internet Good or Bad for Humanity?
12 years ago, when i wrote the rational optimist, i was pretty positive, still, about the impact of the internet. It turned out that we were walking into an echo chamber where we were going to hear back our own views in exaggerated form. I'm not sure whether i think that's a good thing or a bad thing. The effect showed up in the radical polar of every debate in my country's it kind of first noticed it with the scottish independence referendum,. And i remember thinking, o, why as it so nasty?
