The Benefits of Turmeric
The bioactive part of turmeric is only about 3% of its weight. It's called cocuramine and has been in lots of studies for anti-inflammatory properties. Polyunsaturated fats, more so than olive oil or any other type of fat, can provide the substrate for inflammatory compounds. Those fatty acids get turned into pro-inflammatory, turns the dial up on inflammation. But if you're having healthy background fats, so the olive oils that are inert, they don't crank up inflammation, then just enjoy the turmeric and all the other lovely herbs and spices.
