If he had lived by those segregationist principles, he would have shut off a whole kind of connection with humanity. I think that's part of it. Sometimes Faulkner will be criticized for a patrician view or for physical stereotypes and so on. But he's at least giving us that presentation for us to mull over what we agree with and contest what we disagree with. Yeah.
