The mere existence of deep fakes means that if someone does get recorded saying something, they now have plausible deniability. We can only hope that world leaders will be a little more cautious about believing what they see and hear on facebook or twitter. There are companies out there who are trying to automate the process of detecting deep fakes. These companies have developed algorithms to analyze speech recordings for their tell tale signs.
