Catherine the Great, and the French Revolution
The french revolution had to be, first of all, such a strange thing to try and get a handle on if you were in another country the entire time. The same infa structure that took down marie antoinette, the propaganda and pornography and these broad sheets incredibly sexous. Then you're like, even if you're making a good philosophical point, you're ruining it by being like a monster. Those start attacking catherine. And this is where she begins to get her more public reputation for being licentious.
