The Bad Relationship Between AI and Defense

Most AI researchers and tech people in general don't like the idea of working for military or military technology. But DARPA, the advanced research arm of the US military has funded a ton of AI research over multiple decades. Part of why Jeffrey Hinton, one of the most important figures in AI today, wanted to go to Canada is that he did not want to be funded by the military.
