Nichi was a piqet, a preacher's kid. He is aware of people pretending to believe that which they do not actually believe. Niche thinks it's time for western society to move on without god. But he understands it's terribly risky. And the greatest risk of all is the risk of nihilism. That's what his whole philosophical project was how to believe in something without believing in god.
