The Bone Stress Injury Continuum
On the left hand side, you've got normal bone remodeling. That's that concept that bone breakdown which accrues for all runners is being met with bone repair at a sufficient rate. And then at some point, we get into this symptomatic state where the bone actually starts to present as a bit sore. We'll often find a stress reaction if we were to MRI, which is evidenced by a bit of fluid basically on or around the bone. At any point, we're always on that spectrum, that continuum. It's hard to know where we're at. That's why these injuries happen. I've increased in volume whilst I'm also increasing intensity. Great info, Brad
