1.7 - Web Socket Upgrades
In Phoenix, upgrading connections from HTTP connections to web socket connections is now completely mediated by plugs. So what this means is that you can pass those requests through the router and they route just like anything else does. That announcement that went out in 1.7 about how we now do different like it now. You can now support other web servers. Part of that was making Cowboys implementation underneath like the plug cowboy project behave the same way that band it does in this respect.
