What's Your Take on the Origin of the Mate People of Manipor?

I don't think the mexicans were any match for the amer ad military, even at that point. The germans had considered very seriously various scenarias in which they could attack the us. Even if they had done that, it would not have made much, much of a difference to the americans. It would have eventually led to mexico losing more territory, that's all.
