The Impact of Methane on the Climate

Each molecule of this gas has a lesser impact on the climate. Methane is about 28 times stronger than carbon dioxide, so it gets a medium whistle pitch. Carbon dioxide? Well, we could be here for a long time indeed. It doesn't degrade for hundreds or even thousands of years. So though nitrous oxide and methane released by livestock may cause a lot more warming than CO2, when you look at it over the long term, the carbon dioxide released from labs is more damaging for the climate. That's according to John McElvoy.
