In the age of 10 through to the early 20s there's a sharp rise in wanting to go to bed later and then a slow move to a more early and earlier bedtime as we go into older age. That almost precisely follows the line of the sex steroids sharp rise during puberty and a slower decline into into old age. On average on average somebody in their late teens early 20s want to go to sleep about two hours later than someone in their late 50s early 60s so teenagers aren't lazy.
