Mechanical Chest Compressions - What Are Your Thoughts on Mechanical CPR?
According to the Heart and Stroke Foundation, they want you in the center of the chest over the sternum. There's some value in interlocking your hands and pushing right in thecenter of the chest at the level of the nipples which is where they suggest you commence with CPR. However, if you look at some studies, especially some that use things like transisophageal echo, they can actually pinpoint where your heart actually is. Alright let's move on to mechanical chest compressions. The last time we talked about this topic on EN cases I think we agree that the main role for mechanical chest compression machines is for the patient with a prolonged extrication time in the field.
