I see so many smart, capable science communicators attempt to have some sort of good faith discussion with science deniers and they just can't deal with the GISH GALOP. So I think the first is being able to name it is important. The second is then it's again about pausing the disagreement and getting the other side or trying to persuade the other side to get to that position of agreement. And then on the Gish Gala bin in particular, I think a lot of the advice with liars, picking the representative lie and working through one of them rather than many of them, that can be helpful.
