The Effect of Compton Scattering on Quantum Physics

Heisenberg originally suggested that the electron really does have a definite position and velocity. However, particle velocities are determined by a pilot wave whose value depends simultaneously on all other particles. In Bohmian mechanics, when we attempt to more precisely measure the position, our apparatus becomes increasingly important part of the combined system. We can never look into this larger system undisturbed from the outside. Because our observing apparatus cannot measure itself, we cannot predict the deterministic path of the particle.
