The Socratic Method
The Socratic method has been popularized over the years. In educational circles, I hear teachers talk about it, the Socratic method. One of the main tactics he would use when discussing claim A is to have them clarify their terms. And then Socrates was like, well, who should this be applied to? He just leads the person to that conclusion that that their initial claim is inaccurate.
