Do Protests Matter?
The subsequent votes that were taken by representatives in districts that had big protests tended to skew more toward the policies that were advocated by the tea party. It's a little bit harder to say for sure exactly what the mechanism is by which protest size influences a vote. But we do have strong evidence, at least in the case of the tea party movement, that it does actually make a difference terms of long range policy outcomes.
