The Role of Preparation in Cusp Coverage
Most of our decisions about covering cusp come out of laboratory data. If you have more than what, if the ismus exceeds half the intercussable distance, you should consider covering the cusp. The lingual cusp and lower molars are most frequently fractured cusp in the mouth. A lot of it's the lateral interferences of the patient's function ends up loading that cusp in a way that causes it to fracture.
