When stuff falls into the black hole, it tends to get sped up so fast that it actually burns up and then that's bright. So I think when they come near the black holes, they don't always fall right in. But if you sort of go near the blackhole, then you get bent towards it and you sort of spin around it for a long time before falling in. And while you're in the accretion disk, the black hole is still working. It's pulling on the part that's closer to you, harder than the part that’s further from you,.
