The Battle of Grunveld

Russian Chronicles report details about the battle on the ice. Another piece of literature called the Livonian Rhymed Chronicle written in German describes the Novgorodians losses as high with few Livonian losses which suggests that this battle wasn't quite as one-sided as it appears. The two leaders Herman of Dordapat and Alexander and Yevsky appeared to have survived this battle unscathed. We may never know the real truth but we can be confident of this being a victory for Novgorod. Much as the battle would effectively cement the eastern border of western Catholicism against the western border of eastern orthodoxy he had a bigger issue to deal with. Militarily he could handle the attempted
