You Can't Change the Past
It just doesn't work that way. You can't change the past. So why think that there are ways to be more or less rational about thinking about whether events have already passed or not? One of the things I try to show in the book is it's more complicated than that because we're the kinds of planning creatures, too. We have these kinds of time loops and extended ways of reasoning about time that are really important to how we live our lives.
