The IRS Raised the FEC Threshold
"There was no concern that Dadesh D'Souza is going to go on a murder rampage," he says. "It's like you have to deter someone from spending $4,000 instead of $2,000 ... because that's what's going to win your fucking election" The FEC has raised the threshold for campaign donations by up to 3,300 per person in an effort to keep track of how much money can be spent before it gets counted as inflation. But there are other ways to get rid of people who don't know they're running for office and make them do something else.
