Is Europe a Superpower?
In Cold War One, there was no question that Western Europe had to be aligned with the United States because it was directly menaced by the Soviet Union. In Cold War Two, I think it's a trans-Pacific conflict. And what will matter more will be the relationships between the U.S. and Japan, Australia, South Korea, India. Some Europeans are probably thinking to themselves, hey, can we be non-aligned like the Indians were in Cold War One? Can we be the non-aligned people this time? The problem for them is that their security depends on the United States.
