At this moment, Vargas and the Brazilian government wants very desperately to create or to establish a steel foundry that is able to produce high structural steel which Brazil doesn't have. So there is no coincidence that when Brazil presents itself in New York, it is a steel building of a technology that is producing the United States. It is actually a high grade structural steel but within the language of Brazilian, a new modernism which we call now Brazilian or modernism. All of these kind of political social and economic intersections and nation building intersections, one can actually reveal by exploring sort of how modern architecture is a means to, an actual means to economic and technological development but also a symbolic condition of Brazil
