The March of Progress is one of the most replicated and most parodied images in the whole world. Darwin didn't actually invent evolutionary theory, he mostly popularized it. To argue that the ideals of someone must be wrong because they are disliked or have character flaws is known as the genetic fallacy. And modern evolutionary theory has changed significantly since those beginnings.
