The Evolution of the Celtic Languages
The idea that everybody in Western Europe was speaking Celtic languages may have been a very recent state of affairs. It's the process of things like what you're talking about, like the political assimilation of different groups through these kinds of practices. In terms of the Celtic languages, they're part of a much broader Indo-European family of languages. And it's one where we really have to work very closely with the linguists to make any sense of the situation.
