Examining the Oversimplification of Anglo-Saxon Descent and English National Story

This chapter challenges the traditional narrative of Anglo-Saxon descent by discussing the complex societies of Northern Europe and the Danish peninsula, highlighting the cultural value placed on relationships and contacts with others. It argues that scholars have overlooked archaeological evidence and overemphasized Germanic objects to reinforce the English national story.
